What is happening behind the scenes in the pas de deux between
Obama and Hillary on her possible appointment as Secretary
of State? It’s hard to tell, but the smoke signals suggest
a pattern.
Move One: Obama Makes An Offer
At their meeting last week, Obama seems to have discussed
the possibility of appointing Hillary to State. He may not
have overtly offered the job and may have done so out of politeness,
but he must have raised the prospect and discussed it with
her.
Move Two: Clinton Leaks the “Offer”
Whether or not Obama really offered her the job, Hillary tried
to lock him into the appointment by leaking the “offer.”
The leak would not have come from Obama and must have come
from the New York Senator. It was likely an attempt to force
Obama to give her the job by making it public. Now, if he
says no, he will have lots of explaining to do to Hillary’s
famed “18 million voters,” those who backed her
candidacy in 2008.
Move Three: Obama Puts Out Mikva
To Throw Cold Water on Appointment
President-elect Obama, sensing that he was being boxed into
making the appointment, and possibly angered by Hillary’s
brazen tactics, likely suggested to his buddy former President
Clinton counsel Abner Mikva that he discuss the drawbacks
of the appointment in public. Mikva, a former federal judge
who gave up a lifetime appointment to serve as President Clinton’s
first White House counsel, dislikes the Clintons and spoke
privately about needing to take a shower after he resigned
one year into the first term. Mikva spoke in public about
the conflicts of interest between Bill’s foreign activities
and his refusal to release his foundation and library donors
and Hillary’s possible appointment. The message to the
Clintons was: this could get embarrassing.
Move Four: Bill Offers to Come
Clean, Partially
Responding indirectly to the Mikva statement, former president
Clinton offered to cease some of his foreign activities, vet
others, and submit his “major” donors to Obama and
ethics office scrutiny. In a hilarious move, Clinton named
best friend Bruce Lindsay and former counsel Cheryl Mills
to negotiate with his own former chief of staff and now Obama
transition head John Podesta on the disclosures and ethics
limits.
Move Five: Hillary Has Her Aides Talk Up the Appointment
Continuing her desperate efforts to get the job, Hillary likely
had her aides issue statements about how thrilled she was
at the prospect of doing all the good she could do as Secretary
of State. But they were all still careful to offer an out
by saying that she was torn between her love of serving the
world and her love of shaping health care reform in the Congress.
Move Six: Obama Gets Kennedy to Give Hillary an Out
Meanwhile, Obama, probably thinking more and more about the
downside of appointing Hillary, got Ted Kennedy to offer Hillary
the job he had denied her when she asked for it last week
– a legislative role in shaping health care reform. Hillary
had asked Kennedy to appoint her to head a subcommittee on
health care reform, a request the Massachusetts Senator turned
down. Now, likely on prompting from Obama, he offered her
the chairmanship of a working group on health insurance reform.
The offer was probably designed by Obama to offer Hillary
a graceful way to decline the State Department rather than
admit that it was Bill’s financial dealings that made
the job impossible.
Where is this all heading? In the
world of Hillary and Bill predictions are almost impossible.
But Obama and the world would be well served if Hillary did
not get the job.

Warns of Obama Dictatorship Monday, November 10, 2008 6:44 PM WASHINGTON — A Republican congressman
from Georgia said Monday he fears that President-elect
Obama will establish a Gestapo-like security force to
impose a Marxist or fascist dictatorship.
"It may sound a bit crazy and off
base, but the thing is, he's the one who proposed this
national security force," Rep. Paul Broun said
of Obama in an interview Monday with The Associated
Press. "I'm just trying to bring attention to the
fact that we may — may not, I hope not — but
we may have a problem with that type of philosophy of
radical socialism or Marxism."
Broun cited a July speech by Obama that
has circulated on the Internet in which the then-Democratic
presidential candidate called for a civilian force to
take some of the national security burden off the military.

Bailout Bunch Brings Us More of the Same: Jonathan Weil Commentary by Jonathan Weil
Nov. 11 (Bloomberg) -- It's hard to believe Barack
Obama would even think of calling this change.
Take a good look at some of the 17 people our nation's president-elect
chose last week for his Transition
Economic Advisory Board. And then try saying with a straight
face that these are the leaders who should be advising him on
how to navigate through the worst financial crisis in modern
history.
First, there's former Treasury
Secretary Robert Rubin. Not only was he chairman of Citigroup
Inc.'s executive committee when the bank pushed bogus
analyst research, helped Enron Corp. cook
its books, and got caught baking
its own. He was a director from 2000 to 2006 at Ford Motor
Co., which also committed accounting fouls and now is begging
Uncle Sam for Citigroup- style bailout cash.
Two other Citigroup directors received spots on the Obama board:
Xerox Corp. Chief Executive Officer Anne
Mulcahy and Time Warner Inc. Chairman Richard
Parsons. Xerox
and Time
Warner got pinched years ago by the Securities and Exchange
Commission for accounting frauds that occurred while Mulcahy
and Parsons held lesser executive posts at their respective
companies.
Mulcahy and Parsons also once were directors at Fannie Mae when
that company was breaking
accounting rules. So was another member of Obama's new economic
board, former Commerce Secretary William
Daley. He's now a member of the executive committee at JPMorgan
Chase & Co., which, like Citigroup, is among the nine large
banks that just got $125 billion of Treasury's bailout budget.
There's More
Obama's economic crew might as well be called the Bailout Bunch.
Another slot went to former White House economic adviser Laura
Tyson. She's been a director for about a decade at Morgan
Stanley, which in 2004 got slapped for accounting
violations by the SEC and a month ago got $10 billion from
Treasury.
That's not all. There's Penny
Pritzker, the Obama campaign's national finance chairwoman.
She was on the board of the holding company for subprime lender
Superior Bank FSB. The Chicago-area thrift, in which her family
held a 50 percent stake, was seized by the Federal Deposit Insurance
Corp. in 2001. The thrift's owners agreed to pay the government
$460 million over 15 years to help cover the FDIC's losses.
Even some of the brighter lights on Obama's board, like Warren
Buffett and former SEC Chairman William
Donaldson, come with asterisks. Buffett was on the audit
committee of Coca-Cola Co.'s board when the SEC found the soft-drink
maker had misled
investors about its earnings. Donaldson was on the audit
committee from 1998 to 2001 at a provider of free e-mail services
called Mail.com Inc. Just before he left the SEC, in 2005, the
agency disciplined the company over accounting
violations that had occurred on his watch.
Telling Stories
So, by my tally, almost half the people on Obama's economic
advisory board have held fiduciary positions at companies that,
to one degree or another, either fried their financial statements,
helped send the world into an economic tailspin, or both. Do
you think any of that came up in the vetting?
Let's say we give Buffett a pass -- smart move he made, skipping
the group photo-op last week in Chicago. What about the rest
of them? Donaldson, for one, was chairman when the SEC voted
in 2004 to let the big Wall Street banks, including Lehman
Brothers Holdings Inc. and Bear Stearns Cos., lever up their
balance sheets like drunks. Talk about blowing it.
And whom did Obama tap for White House chief of staff? Rahm
Emanuel, the Illinois congressman who was a director at
Freddie Mac in 2000 and 2001 while it was committing accounting
fraud.
Ideally, this job would go to someone who can't be easily fooled.
Think about it: Of all the people Obama could have chosen as
his chief of staff, couldn't he have found someone who wasn't
once on the board of Freddie
Mac?
Renewed Confidence
The president-elect needs some new advisers -- fast. We are
in a crisis of confidence in American capitalism. These aren't
the right people to re-instill its sense of honor.
Many of them should be getting subpoenas as material witnesses
right about now, not places in Obama's inner circle. Did Obama
learn nothing from the ill-fated choice of James
Johnson, the former Fannie Mae boss, to lead his vice- presidential
search committee?
Does he think people like Robert Rubin or Richard Parsons will
offer any helpful advice on how to stop crooked bankers or sleep-walking
directors from sinking our economy? Or that they won't mistake
the nation's needs for their own corporate interests? Or that
the people who helped get us into our long financial nightmare
have any clue how to get us out?
Obama has created hope that our nation can stand for all that
is good in the world again. It's not too late to change course.
Start by scrapping this board.

you who voted for Barack Obama. Guess what? Through his aides,
The president-elect has had regular contact with the Terrorists
of Hamas, but was asked to keep quiet until the end of the election.
So lets see, so far he has promised Jerusalem to Abbas, but
he should keep it quiet, he sends Anti-Semitic, Israel hating
adviser Robert Malley to establish contacts with Syria and now
we find out he has been working with a terrorist group bent
on the the destruction of Israel as a Jewish State. Not bad
for a guy who says he is a friend of Israel.

Hamas Claims Secret Relationship with
Obama Aides

(IsraelNN.com) Hamas is claiming close
and ongoing ties with America's upcoming Obama Administration,
according to a report published Tuesday in the Arabic-language
newspaper Al-Hayat. The relationship was kept under wraps
until after the U.S. elections so as not to harm Obama’s
election prospects. The U.S. has classified Hamas a terrorist
organization.
The London-based publication interviewed
Gaza-based political chief Ahmad Yousuf, advisor to Ismail
Haniyeh, the head of the Hamas regime in Gaza, which seized
power in a bloody coup d’etat in 2007. Yousuf declared
that Hamas has been in regular contact with President-elect
Barack Obama’s advisers for months.
"We were in contact with a number
of Obama's aides through the internet, and later met with
some of them in Gaza," the Hamas official was quoted
as saying, "but they advised us not to come out with
any statements, as that may have had a negative effect on
his election campaign and be used by Republican candidate
John McCain."

Contacts allegedly began during the presidential
race and Yousuf expects the relationship to continue. He has
also predicted that there will be "a change" in
American foreign policy in the Middle East once Obama enters
the White House. However, he said, the new president will
focus more on domestic issues and pay less attention to the
region "and the Palestinian issue" than did his
predecessor.
Haniyeh sent Obama a telegram congratulating
him on his "historic victory" in the U.S. elections,
according to FrontPage Magazine.
After the U.S. elections, President-elect
Obama appointed Robert Malley as a senior foreign policy adviser.
Malley, who served as an “informal adviser” to the
Obama campaign, was reportedly forced to sever his ties with
the campaign six months ago, when The Times of London reported
that he was meeting with Hamas representatives on a regular
basis. During the campaign Obama claimed he opposed contacts
with the Hamas.
At the time, campaign spokesman Ben LaBolt
stated that "Rob Malley has, like hundreds of other experts,
provided informal advice to the campaign in the past. He has
no formal role in the campaign. He will not play any role
in the future."
FrontPage Magazine reported Tuesday that Obama has already
dispatched Malley to meet with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak
and Syrian President Bashar Assad. The report cites an unnamed
aide of Malley’s as stating that Malley's job is to explain
'that the Obama administration will take Egyptian and Syrian
interests more into account' than did the outgoing Bush administration.
Last week Hamas called upon Obama to regularize contacts with
the organization, but Obama stated he would not do so until
Hamas renounces terror and is willing to recognize Israel
and its existing agreements with the Palestinian Authority.
The Imam who came forward to assist in
the search of Barack Obama’s identity left Kenya secretly
last night, and will arrive in the UK this morning. He will
meet with a US contact person who will assist him in recording
an asylum statement in the UK after handing over the documents
that caused the blessing of Obama when he was born and to
confirm the origin of the name Hussein.
The man will join relatives in the UK
because his life will be in danger if he were to return to
Kenya after removing the documents from the Mosque’s
archives and taking them out of the country. The man has been
informed about the on-going case filed in the US Supreme Court
by attorney Philip Berg challenging Barack Obama’s citizenship.
When the man heard that Jerome Corsi
was in Kenya a few months ago, he took a decision to try and
meet him, but had to travel back to Mombasa from Nairobi on
hearing that Corsi had been bundled and taken to the airport
on deportation orders.
The Imam is the grandson of the late
Imam who blessed Barack Obama when he was born in Mombasa
on the 4th of august 1961.
While in the UK, the Imam and the American
contact person will visit Amnesty International before handing
himself over to the authorities where he will formally deliver
his application for asylum. The contact man has arranged so
that they get an official from Amnesty international to accompany
them to the home office desk where he will inform them on
he dangers that will face him if he were to return to Kenya
after delivering the documents on Obama.
This may now bring to close the speculations
on Obama’s citizenship and the secrecy on where he was
born.

Obama in Denver was supposed to show her softer side. But
it only highlighted a radical part of her resume: Public Allies.

Allies in 1992, resigning before his wife became executive
